Community Coalition creates website to give or get help, and plans for a Goods Donation Center:

As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis continues in our community, we want you to know that we are taking steps to maintain everyone’s health and safety, while also working hard to provide the necessary resources and services to our partners, and to those in need.

Throughout the last week, a community coalition comprised of Allegan County United Way, Allegan County Community Foundation, and the Community Action Agency of Allegan County has been working with local agencies, municipalities and many other partners  to ensure we are doing all we can during this time.

This community coalition has created and implemented several valuable tools in support of our community.  First is the coalition website at  On this site you can find support services, information, donate financially to the Allegan COVID-19 Response Fund, volunteer to help with the community response, and learn how and where to donate goods.  Second, is the creation of a Goods Donation Center at the United Way building, scheduled to open next week, at 650 Grand Street in Allegan.  This site will support the increased and rapidly changing needs that our local agencies are trying to fill. Instructions on what and how to give are on the coalition website. The need is now, so let’s come together as a community to fill all the needs.

Patrick Moran, President of the Allegan County United Way said ‘The outbreak of COVID-19 creates new problems for our partners in both the logistics of getting increased help to clients, and in financial strain, and it’s up to us to respond accordingly.’ In addition to the Goods Donation Center, this coalition group will be providing needed financial support by raising additional funds specifically for the joint COVID-19 Response Fund, and distributing them to support agencies in their urgent COVID-19 responses.

As this situation continues to rapidly evolve, we have been in close contact with local and county government officials, the business community, the Multi-Agency Coordinating Council and our health providers to ensure that we are operating this emergency response in the safest way possible. The website will be updated regularly as the situation evolves.  For more information call Patrick Moran at 616-638-4729.
